Co-founded DeepMind in 2010 and later Inflection AI before joining Microsoft in 2024 as CEO of its newly formed Microsoft AI division, reporting to CEO Satya Nadella. He now leads Copilot and the MAI Superintelligence Team formed in November 2025.
How they got here
Before Microsoft, Suleyman co-founded DeepMind with Demis Hassabis and Shane Legg in 2010, and in 2022 co-founded Inflection AI with Reid Hoffman. He joined Microsoft in March 2024 as CEO of Microsoft AI, its consumer AI products and research division.
In September 2026 he discussed AI safety, industry-wide codes of conduct and whether frontier AI can remain controllable in a televised interview.
