G42

G42 was founded in Abu Dhabi in 2018 and has grown into the UAE's largest AI group, operating through subsidiaries that span sovereign cloud infrastructure (Core42), public-sector big data analytics (Presight, separately listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange), foundational AI research (Inception), healthcare AI (M42) and cybersecurity (CPX), among others. The company is chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE National Security Advisor, and led operationally by founder and Group CEO Peng Xiao.

G42 sits at the centre of the UAE's national AI strategy: it is the developer of the Falcon-adjacent Jais and other Arabic-language models through Inception, a partner in the Stargate UAE compute cluster at Masdar City, and - after a 2024 agreement addressing US national-security concerns over its historical ties to Chinese technology suppliers - a formal US AI-infrastructure partner, deploying what it calls "sovereign AI" through Core42 across a network it terms the "Pax Silica", from Kenya to Vietnam and India.
