About Nakoda AI

What is Nakoda AI?

Nakoda AI is Dubai's integrated AI advisory and ecosystem platform. We combine professional services across eight AI divisions with a curated resource directory, regional AI news aggregation and a community - designed for organizations navigating the AI transformation in the UAE and the Gulf.

About Nakoda AI

Who is Nakoda AI for?

Enterprises seeking AI governance frameworks, startups applying to UAE incubators and free zones, professionals seeking AI training, boards asked to govern AI, and organizations trying to stay visible in AI-powered search. If your work intersects with AI in the UAE, Nakoda AI is relevant to you.

About Nakoda AI

What makes Nakoda AI different from other AI consultancies?

Three things. We cover the full spectrum - from governance and audit through to visibility in AI search - rather than specializing in one area. We are vendor-independent: we do not sell AI software, so recommendations are based entirely on what serves the client. And we are built into the UAE AI ecosystem rather than advising on it from outside.

About Nakoda AI

Does Nakoda AI sell AI software or tools?

No. We are an advisory firm. We recommend tools and platforms based on client needs but receive no commission or incentive from any vendor. That independence is a core principle, not a positioning line.

About Nakoda AI

Is Nakoda AI a technology company?

No. We do not build AI. We make sure the AI that organizations build, buy or deploy is governed correctly, applied strategically, visible to the right audiences, and built on a foundation that lasts.

About Nakoda AI

What credentials does the Nakoda AI team hold?

The founding team's professional credentials include Chartered Accountancy, ISACA certifications, experience at global advisory firms, and active membership in UAE professional and business bodies. Full team credentials are on the About page.

About Nakoda AI

Where is Nakoda AI based?

Dubai, UAE. The location is deliberate - Dubai's government has made AI a mandatory requirement for government procurement, launched the Dubai AI Seal, opened the Dubai AI Campus and set the UAE National AI Strategy 2031. We are designed to be a working part of that ecosystem.

The UAE AI landscape

What is the Dubai AI Seal and how can Nakoda AI help?

The Dubai AI Seal is a certification programme run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. It verifies that AI companies meet standards for governance, security, ethics and transparency, and is assessed across six tiers. Dubai government entities are required to work only with certified providers. We help organizations prepare the documentation, frameworks and policies to meet the criteria and apply successfully.

The UAE AI landscape

Is Nakoda AI registered with the Dubai AI Seal programme?

We have submitted our application to the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Our status will be updated on this page when the certification is granted - we do not claim it before then.

The UAE AI landscape

What is AI governance and does my organization need it?

AI governance is the set of policies, processes and structures determining how AI is developed, deployed and monitored. If your organization uses any AI - from a customer service chatbot to an automated financial model - you need it. Without governance you face regulatory exposure, accountability gaps and reputational risk. In Dubai, governance is now tied directly to government procurement eligibility through the Dubai AI Seal.

The UAE AI landscape

What is LLMO and why does it matter for my business?

Large Language Model Optimization is the practice of structuring your organization's content, data and online presence so AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini surface and cite your brand when users ask relevant questions. As buyer behaviour shifts from search engines to AI assistants, organizations not optimized for LLMO are invisible to a growing segment of their audience.

Working with us

Can you help my company register in Dubai?

Yes. Our Business Setup Advisory division provides end-to-end guidance on trade licensing, free zone selection across DMCC, DIFC, Dubai Internet City, Innovation City, Masdar City, ADGM and SRTIP, Dubai AI Campus application, and Dubai Founders HQ membership.

Working with us

Do you work with startups or only established companies?

Both. Business Setup and Community are designed for early-stage organizations. Governance, Audit and Strategy are typically engaged by established enterprises. Learning & Development and Visibility serve both equally.

Working with us

How do engagements usually start?

With a scoped assessment rather than a proposal. Depending on the division that means an AI Readiness Assessment, a governance gap assessment, an audit scoping session, an AI Visibility Audit, a pathway mapping session or a training needs analysis. Each produces something usable on its own.

Working with us

How are engagements priced?

Three ways, depending on the work. Scoped assessments and defined deliverables - readiness assessments, governance gap reviews, audits, visibility audits, free zone mapping - are fixed-fee, quoted against a written scope before anything starts. Ongoing work such as visibility monitoring, programme management or a retained governance function is a monthly retainer with a stated minimum term. Training is priced per programme by cohort size and delivery format. We do not publish rate cards because the same-named engagement varies several-fold in size between a twenty-person startup and a semi-government entity - but you get a specific number against a written scope, not a range, and no engagement begins without one.

Working with us

Is there a minimum engagement size?

No. Several engagements in the Others division are a few days of work with a fixed scope and a defined end point, and the free AI visibility report, the weekly Brief and the ecosystem directory cost nothing at all. If a question is better answered in a single conversation, that is what happens - we take no vendor commission, so there is no financial reason to inflate scope.

Working with us

How can I partner with Nakoda AI?

Three categories. Channel Partners are AI companies and service providers who refer clients and receive referrals. Media Partners host events we cover as a media outlet in exchange for accreditation. Business Partners are companies aligned with our advisory services. Use the enquiry form to start the conversation.

The platform

How does news.nakoda.ai work?

It is a UAE-focused AI news aggregator. We monitor leading regional and global sources - including WAM, Zawya, Dubai Media Office, Khaleej Times, Wired and Fast Company - rewrite stories in concise original language, and publish them with attribution and a link to the original. It is designed to be the single daily destination for UAE AI ecosystem updates.

The platform

What is shop.nakoda.ai and how does it work?

It lists AI-related products suitable for corporate gifting - AI notebooks, translation earbuds, wearables and similar. Nakoda AI holds no inventory and processes no payments. When you submit an enquiry our team contacts you to facilitate the order through our supplier partners. We are not a retailer.

The platform

How can my organization be listed in the resource directory?

The directory features verified UAE government entities, free zones, universities, events and ecosystem platforms. Organizations wishing to be included can contact us. Listing is at editorial discretion and is never paid placement.

The platform

How do we get in touch?

Through the contact page, or on WhatsApp, Telegram, Botim, phone or email. We reply within 24 hours, Dubai time.

AI Strategy

Where should an organization start with AI strategy?

With an AI Readiness Assessment. It examines data infrastructure, workflow maturity, talent capability, technology stack and leadership alignment, and produces a scored profile of what is in place and what is missing. It takes two to three weeks and every subsequent decision builds on it.

AI Strategy

Does Nakoda AI sell or resell AI software?

No. We are an advisory firm and take no commission or referral income from any vendor. That independence is what makes vendor selection advice worth having.

AI Strategy

What is Executive AI Enablement?

A one-to-one service that configures AI agents around an individual leader's daily workflow - automated briefings, decision dashboards and AI-assisted communication - so senior time goes to decisions rather than information processing.

AI Governance

What is AI governance and does my organization need it?

AI governance is the set of policies, processes and structures determining how AI is developed, deployed and monitored. If your organization uses any AI - from a customer service chatbot to an automated financial model - you need it. Without governance you face regulatory exposure, accountability gaps and reputational risk. In Dubai, governance frameworks are now tied directly to government procurement eligibility through the Dubai AI Seal.

AI Governance

What is the Dubai AI Seal?

A certification programme run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, awarded across six tiers. It verifies that AI companies meet standards for governance, security, ethics and transparency. Dubai government entities are required to work with Dubai AI Seal-certified providers, which makes it a business requirement for anyone targeting government clients.

AI Governance

How long does a governance gap assessment take?

Three to four weeks. It produces the roadmap for everything that follows.

AI Audit

What is the difference between audit of AI and AI in auditing?

Audit of AI means independently evaluating AI systems, algorithms and data to determine whether they are trustworthy, accurate, fair, compliant and secure - what an organization does to the AI it uses. AI in auditing means deploying AI tools within the audit function to make audit processes more effective and comprehensive - what the audit function does with AI. Both are needed, and they are not interchangeable.

AI Audit

Which frameworks does your audit practice follow?

ISACA's frameworks - COBIT for governance and management of enterprise IT, CRISC for risk and information systems control, and the CISA standard for information systems auditing - alongside the professional standards of chartered accountancy. Alignment means the methodology, evidence standards, documentation requirements and reporting format follow those standards.

AI Audit

We use AI embedded in tools we did not build. Is that our responsibility?

Yes. When third-party AI produces decisions affecting customers, employees or financial outcomes, accountability sits with the organization that deployed it, not the vendor that built it. Third-party AI tool audit exists for exactly this.

AI Visibility

What is LLMO and why does it matter?

Large Language Model Optimization is the practice of structuring an organization's content, data and online presence so AI platforms surface and cite the brand when users ask relevant questions. As buyer behaviour shifts from search engines to AI assistants, organizations not optimized for LLMO are invisible to a growing share of their audience.

AI Visibility

How is this measured?

By actual placement in generated answers - citation share, extraction rate, accuracy and sentiment across a fixed panel of buyer questions, per engine and per question. Not by proxy metrics like page rank or domain authority.

AI Visibility

Is this just SEO with new branding?

No. Classic SEO is one of the seven disciplines and the foundation for the rest, but AI SEO, AEO, GEO, LLMO, AIO and SMAO target being cited inside answers, which is a different goal measured a different way.

Business Setup Advisory

Which free zone is right for an AI company?

It depends on the nature of the business, intended clients, banking requirements, workforce size, planned certifications and the government programmes you want to access. DMCC, DIFC Innovation Hub, Dubai Internet City, Innovation City, Masdar City, ADGM and SRTIP all offer different activity permissions and cost structures. The pathway mapping session exists to answer this specifically rather than generically.

Business Setup Advisory

Can you help my company register in Dubai?

Yes - end to end. Trade licensing, free zone selection, Dubai AI Campus application, Dubai Founders HQ membership and the Dubai AI Seal application.

Business Setup Advisory

We are already registered but our licence does not cover our AI activities. What now?

That is a restructuring engagement. The complexity is doing it without disrupting existing operations, client relationships, banking and visa statuses - which is exactly what the service is designed around.

Learning and Development

What is the Efficiency in Life track?

Workshops, masterclasses and seminars on the AI tools and applications that make day-to-day life easier - personal assistants, inbox and scheduling automation, document handling, learning and creative tools - plus the judgment to know which are worth the setup time. It sits deliberately outside the corporate governance content.

Learning and Development

Do you deliver generic AI courses?

No. Every programme starts from what participants need to be able to do differently afterwards, using the organization's actual tools, use cases and governance challenges. The evaluation framework measures behavioural change, not satisfaction scores.

Learning and Development

Who delivers the training?

Practitioners who spend the other half of their professional time doing governance, audit, strategy and visibility work in real organizations. They teach from current experience.

Community

What does community membership include?

The weekly Nakoda AI Brief, events intelligence and coverage from news.nakoda.ai, inclusion in community discussions, and the in-person formats: majlis gatherings, mocktails and meetings, and Coffee & Coding working sessions.

Community

How can my organization be listed in the resource directory?

The directory features verified UAE government entities, free zones, universities, events and ecosystem platforms. Organizations wanting to be included can contact us. Listing is at editorial discretion and is never paid placement.

Community

How can I partner with Nakoda AI?

Three categories: Channel Partners (AI companies and service providers who refer clients), Media Partners (we cover events as a media outlet in exchange for accreditation), and Business Partners (companies aligned with our advisory services).

Others

What falls under the Others division?

AI work that does not fit divisions 01 to 07: custom builds and automation, internal AI agents, integration and data preparation, technical due diligence, commissioned research, and referrals to other organizations in the UAE AI ecosystem when they are the better fit.

Others

Will you tell us if we do not need the work?

Yes, and it happens often. We take no vendor commission and no referral income, so there is no financial reason to recommend an engagement that is not warranted. A second opinion that ends in "do not buy this" is a successful outcome.

Others

How small an engagement will you take?

Small enough to be worth doing. Several engagements in this division are a few days of work with a fixed scope and a defined end point. If a request is better answered in a single conversation, that is what happens.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is AI Optimization (AIO)?

AIO is the umbrella term for the whole field of making an organization legible and citable to AI systems. It sits above the individual disciplines - AEO, GEO, LLMO, AI SEO, classic SEO and SMAO - and governs which of them a given organization needs, in what order, and how their results are read together.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is AI search visibility?

AI search visibility refers to whether and how your brand, content or expertise appears in answers generated by AI-powered search engines - ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Mode. Unlike traditional search, where visibility means ranking in a list of links, AI search visibility means being cited, quoted or referenced inside a generated answer.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is Answer Engine Optimization (AEO)?

AEO is the practice of structuring your content so AI-powered answer engines can extract, trust and quote it directly in a generated response. The unit of value is the quotable passage - a self-contained, factually precise paragraph that answers a specific question.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?

GEO is concerned with how AI models represent your brand across the many answers they produce - not just whether you appear, but what the model says about you when it does.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is Large Language Model Optimization (LLMO)?

LLMO is the technical and content work that makes your knowledge easy for large language models to ingest, ground and retrieve. It covers content chunking, canonical facts, entity relationships, machine-readable feeds, and internal linking.

Understanding AI Search Visibility

What is Social Media Answer Optimization (SMAO)?

SMAO addresses the social layer of AI answers. AI models increasingly draw on community consensus - forum threads, reviews, social discussions - when answering questions about products, brands and services.

Importance and Relevance

Why does AI search visibility matter now?

A growing share of high-intent research never reaches a traditional results page. Buyers ask AI models directly, read one synthesised answer, and act. If your content is not structured to be cited, you are invisible to that audience.

Importance and Relevance

Why is it important for brands in the Middle East?

For many categories in the Middle East, the citable corpus is thinner than in larger markets. A small amount of strong, structured source material moves the needle further here. Additionally, brand names, transliterations and locations get confused more often by AI models in this region.

Importance and Relevance

Why can a single approach not cover all AI models?

Each model reads the web through a different lens. Their training data, retrieval methods and citation logic differ - content cited by one model may be ignored by another.

Methods and Process

How does AI visibility optimization work?

The process begins with mapping the audience's questions across AI models. The audit documents whether the brand is cited, ignored or misrepresented, then restructures content into formats models can extract and cite. Ongoing monitoring tracks citation share, accuracy and sentiment.

Methods and Process

How long does it take to see results?

Most engagements see first measurable movement within four to six weeks. The effect compounds over a quarter.

Methods and Process

How is success measured?

Citation share, extraction rate, accuracy and sentiment are tracked across AI engines - per engine, per question, per month.

Methods and Process

How is pricing structured?

The initial audit is fixed-fee. Ongoing engagements are priced monthly, sized to the services and question coverage involved.

Differences

What is the difference between SEO and Search Everywhere Optimization (SEvO)?

Traditional SEO focuses on ranking in Google and Bing search results. Search Everywhere Optimization (SEvO) extends this to every platform where people search - AI engines, social media, marketplaces, voice assistants and more. SEO is one channel; SEvO is the umbrella strategy for all discovery surfaces.

Differences

What is the difference between AI SEO and GEO?

AI SEO is the broad discipline of making your content visible across AI search engines. GEO specifically focuses on how generative models represent and describe your brand - presence, accuracy and sentiment at scale. AI SEO includes GEO but also covers technical structuring, citation optimization and monitoring.

Differences

What is the difference between AEO and GEO?

AEO is about being the quoted answer to a specific question - making your content the passage the model lifts and cites. GEO is about how models describe your brand across many answers. AEO optimises individual passages; GEO shapes the overall portrayal.

Differences

What is the difference between LLMO and AEO?

AEO focuses on the output - making your content appear in AI-generated answers. LLMO focuses on the input - making your knowledge machine-ingestible so models can find, parse and ground themselves in it. LLMO is the foundation; AEO builds on top of it.

Differences

What is the difference between AI SEO and traditional SEO?

Traditional SEO optimises for position in a ranked list of links. AI SEO optimises for being cited inside a generated answer. In SEO the unit is the page and the metric is rank. In AI SEO the unit is the quotable passage and the metric is citation frequency.

Differences

What is the difference between GEO and SMAO?

GEO focuses on how models describe your brand using web-sourced content. SMAO focuses specifically on the social and community signals - forum threads, reviews, social discussions - that models increasingly weave into their answers.

Differences

What is the difference between LLMO and GEO?

LLMO makes your knowledge technically retrievable and ingestible by models. GEO shapes how models use that knowledge to portray your brand. LLMO is structural; GEO is reputational.

Differences

What is the difference between SEO and AEO?

SEO earns ranking in a list. AEO earns inclusion in a generated answer. SEO targets the page; AEO targets the passage. A page can rank poorly in Google but supply the sentence an AI model quotes.

Similarities

What do all AI visibility disciplines share?

All share a foundation: clear, well-structured, factually precise content that a machine can parse and trust. Whether optimising for extraction, representation, retrieval or social signals, the underlying requirement is the same - knowledge presented in a way that serves both human readers and machine consumers.

Similarities

What do AEO and GEO have in common?

Both require content that is factually precise, well-sourced and structured for machine consumption. Both measure outcomes in AI-generated answers. Both depend on the same underlying corpus quality - the difference is the angle of measurement.

Similarities

What do SEO and AI SEO have in common?

Both depend on technical health, crawlability, content quality, authority signals and structured data. Strong traditional SEO underwrites strong AI visibility because the pages that rank are frequently the pages models cite.

Similarities

What do LLMO and SMAO have in common?

Both operate on inputs to AI models rather than direct outputs. LLMO shapes the structured knowledge models retrieve; SMAO shapes the social signals models interpret as consensus. Both require sustained, ongoing effort rather than one-time optimization.

Limitations and Risks

Can AI search optimization guarantee results?

No. No legitimate provider can guarantee a model's output. What can be guaranteed is a rigorous, measurable process: a clear audit, specific structural changes, and transparent reporting on whether the needle moved.

Limitations and Risks

Will AI visibility optimization hurt existing Google rankings?

No - done properly, it reinforces them. The structural discipline that makes content citable by AI models also tends to improve traditional search performance.

Limitations and Risks

What happens when AI models update or change how they work?

They will, repeatedly. The fundamentals in scope - clear, well-structured, trustworthy content - survive model changes because they align with what every engine is trying to do. Ongoing monitoring detects shifts so the approach can be adjusted.

Governance and certification

What is AI governance?

AI governance is the architecture of accountability around AI: the policies, processes and structures determining how AI is developed, deployed and monitored, who is accountable for its decisions, how incidents are escalated, and how the framework itself is reviewed as capabilities and regulation change. It is not a document - it is an operating model with review cycles and reporting lines.

Governance and certification

What is the Dubai AI Seal?

A certification programme run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, assessed across six tiers. It evaluates organizations on security protocols, AI governance frameworks, transparency practices, ethical standards and compliance with UAE regulatory requirements. Dubai government entities are required to work with certified providers, which makes it a commercial prerequisite for anyone targeting government AI contracts.

Governance and certification

What is an AI ethics policy?

A policy that expresses an organization's AI principles as decision rules that can be applied to real situations - not as a statement of values. It defines the process for evaluating systems against those principles before deployment, the escalation path when an output conflicts with a principle, and who is accountable for ethics decisions.

Governance and certification

What regulation applies to AI in the UAE?

The Dubai AI Seal standards, the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, DIFC Data Protection Law, the UAE Cybersecurity Law, and the principles embedded in the UAE National AI Strategy 2031. Government and semi-government entities are additionally subject to the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence. Organizations with international operations may also fall under the EU AI Act.

Governance and certification

What is model drift?

The gradual degradation of an AI system's performance as the data and conditions it encounters diverge from what it was trained on. Drift is invisible without monitoring, which is why post-deployment monitoring is a governance requirement rather than an engineering nicety.

Audit

What is the difference between audit of AI and AI in auditing?

Audit of AI means independently evaluating AI systems, algorithms and data to determine whether they are trustworthy, accurate, fair, compliant and secure - what an organization does to the AI it uses. AI in auditing means deploying AI tools within the audit function to make audit work more effective - what the audit function does with AI. They are complementary, not alternatives.

Audit

What is an AI algorithm audit?

An independent examination of an AI system's decision logic for bias across protected and proxy characteristics, whether its decisions can be explained to the parties they affect, and whether human oversight is proportionate to the consequences of those decisions. Findings identify both the presence of bias and its source, so remediation happens at the right level.

Audit

What is data lineage and why does an audit need it?

Data lineage documents where data came from and how it was transformed before reaching an AI system. Without it, a finding about a bad output cannot be traced to its cause - the training data, the processing pipeline or the model itself - which makes remediation guesswork.

Audit

What is adversarial input?

An input engineered to manipulate an AI system's output, often in ways invisible to human review and to standard security monitoring. It is one of the AI-specific attack classes that traditional cybersecurity frameworks were not designed to detect, which is why AI security audit is a distinct discipline.

Audit

Who is accountable for third-party AI embedded in tools we bought?

The organization that deployed it. When AI inside a CRM, HR platform or financial reporting system produces decisions affecting customers, employees or financial outcomes, accountability sits with the deploying organization, not the vendor that built it. Third-party AI tool audit exists to make that accountability manageable.
