How do engagements usually start?
With a scoped assessment rather than a proposal. Depending on the division that means an AI Readiness Assessment, a governance gap assessment, an audit scoping session, an AI Visibility Audit, a pathway mapping session or a training needs analysis. Each produces something usable on its own.
What is AI governance and does my organization need it?
AI governance is the set of policies, processes and structures determining how AI is developed, deployed and monitored. If your organization uses any AI - from a customer service chatbot to an automated financial model - you need it. Without governance you face regulatory exposure, accountability gaps and reputational risk. In Dubai, governance is now tied directly to government procurement eligibility through the Dubai AI Seal.
Does Nakoda AI sell AI software or tools?
No. We are an advisory firm. We recommend tools and platforms based on client needs but receive no commission or incentive from any vendor. That independence is a core principle, not a positioning line.
What makes Nakoda AI different from other AI consultancies?
Three things. We cover the full spectrum - from governance and audit through to visibility in AI search - rather than specializing in one area. We are vendor-independent: we do not sell AI software, so recommendations are based entirely on what serves the client. And we are built into the UAE AI ecosystem rather than advising on it from outside.
What is Nakoda AI?
Nakoda AI is Dubai's integrated AI advisory and ecosystem platform. We combine professional services across eight AI divisions with a curated resource directory, regional AI news aggregation and a community - designed for organizations navigating the AI transformation in the UAE and the Gulf.
How do we get in touch?
Through the contact page, or on WhatsApp, Telegram, Botim, phone or email. We reply within 24 hours, Dubai time.
How can my organization be listed in the resource directory?
The directory features verified UAE government entities, free zones, universities, events and ecosystem platforms. Organizations wishing to be included can contact us. Listing is at editorial discretion and is never paid placement.
What is shop.nakoda.ai and how does it work?
It lists AI-related products suitable for corporate gifting - AI notebooks, translation earbuds, wearables and similar. Nakoda AI holds no inventory and processes no payments. When you submit an enquiry our team contacts you to facilitate the order through our supplier partners. We are not a retailer.
How does news.nakoda.ai work?
It is a UAE-focused AI news aggregator. We monitor leading regional and global sources - including WAM, Zawya, Dubai Media Office, Khaleej Times, Wired and Fast Company - rewrite stories in concise original language, and publish them with attribution and a link to the original. It is designed to be the single daily destination for UAE AI ecosystem updates.
How can I partner with Nakoda AI?
Three categories. Channel Partners are AI companies and service providers who refer clients and receive referrals. Media Partners host events we cover as a media outlet in exchange for accreditation. Business Partners are companies aligned with our advisory services. Use the enquiry form to start the conversation.
Is there a minimum engagement size?
No. Several engagements in the Others division are a few days of work with a fixed scope and a defined end point, and the free AI visibility report, the weekly Brief and the ecosystem directory cost nothing at all. If a question is better answered in a single conversation, that is what happens - we take no vendor commission, so there is no financial reason to inflate scope.
How are engagements priced?
Three ways, depending on the work. Scoped assessments and defined deliverables - readiness assessments, governance gap reviews, audits, visibility audits, free zone mapping - are fixed-fee, quoted against a written scope before anything starts. Ongoing work such as visibility monitoring, programme management or a retained governance function is a monthly retainer with a stated minimum term. Training is priced per programme by cohort size and delivery format. We do not publish rate cards because the same-named engagement varies several-fold in size between a twenty-person startup and a semi-government entity - but you get a specific number against a written scope, not a range, and no engagement begins without one.
Do you work with startups or only established companies?
Both. Business Setup and Community are designed for early-stage organizations. Governance, Audit and Strategy are typically engaged by established enterprises. Learning & Development and Visibility serve both equally.
Can you help my company register in Dubai?
Yes. Our Business Setup Advisory division provides end-to-end guidance on trade licensing, free zone selection across DMCC, DIFC, Dubai Internet City, Innovation City, Masdar City, ADGM and SRTIP, Dubai AI Campus application, and Dubai Founders HQ membership.
What is LLMO and why does it matter for my business?
Large Language Model Optimization is the practice of structuring your organization's content, data and online presence so AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini surface and cite your brand when users ask relevant questions. As buyer behaviour shifts from search engines to AI assistants, organizations not optimized for LLMO are invisible to a growing segment of their audience.
Is Nakoda AI registered with the Dubai AI Seal programme?
We have submitted our application to the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Our status will be updated on this page when the certification is granted - we do not claim it before then.
What is the Dubai AI Seal and how can Nakoda AI help?
The Dubai AI Seal is a certification programme run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence. It verifies that AI companies meet standards for governance, security, ethics and transparency, and is assessed across six tiers. Dubai government entities are required to work only with certified providers. We help organizations prepare the documentation, frameworks and policies to meet the criteria and apply successfully.
Where is Nakoda AI based?
Dubai, UAE. The location is deliberate - Dubai's government has made AI a mandatory requirement for government procurement, launched the Dubai AI Seal, opened the Dubai AI Campus and set the UAE National AI Strategy 2031. We are designed to be a working part of that ecosystem.
What credentials does the Nakoda AI team hold?
The founding team's professional credentials include Chartered Accountancy, ISACA certifications, experience at global advisory firms, and active membership in UAE professional and business bodies. Full team credentials are on the About page.
Is Nakoda AI a technology company?
No. We do not build AI. We make sure the AI that organizations build, buy or deploy is governed correctly, applied strategically, visible to the right audiences, and built on a foundation that lasts.
Who is Nakoda AI for?
Enterprises seeking AI governance frameworks, startups applying to UAE incubators and free zones, professionals seeking AI training, boards asked to govern AI, and organizations trying to stay visible in AI-powered search. If your work intersects with AI in the UAE, Nakoda AI is relevant to you.
What happens if I send my result?
Someone reads it and comes back with the two or three things most worth doing first, in the order we would do them. If nothing in your result justifies an engagement, we say so.
Do I have to give my email to see the score?
No. The result, the dimension breakdown and the recommended first step all appear immediately. Sending it to us afterwards is optional.
How accurate is a self-assessment?
It is indicative, not diagnostic. A ten-question self-report tells you roughly where you stand and which dimension is weakest - it does not replace the full AI Readiness Assessment, which scores the same five dimensions against evidence rather than opinion.
How long does the assessment take?
About three minutes. Ten questions, one at a time, no email required to see your result.
How often are resources reviewed?
Each entry carries the date Nakoda last reviewed it, shown on the resource card. Providers restructure their catalogues often, so if you find a link that has moved or a description that no longer matches, tell us and we will correct it.
Does Nakoda create these courses?
No. Nakoda does not create, teach, host or accredit any of the learning listed here. Every course, programme, tutorial and credential belongs to the organisation that publishes it, and enrolment, payment, support and certification all happen with that organisation. Nakoda's work is discovery: finding what exists, describing it accurately and helping you get to the right one quickly.
How do I know whether a resource is trustworthy?
Check who publishes it and go to their own site. Every link here points at the provider's official destination, never a mirror or a reseller, and the provider is named on every card. Beyond that: prefer material that states its level and prerequisites honestly, and be sceptical of anything promising expertise in a weekend.
How do I learn AI for my profession?
Use the role section. Pick the role closest to your work and you get why AI matters there, what to learn first, the topics that apply, and a short list of external resources — rather than a general course that spends half its time on material irrelevant to you.
Is anything here paid, or is it all free?
Both. Around half the catalogue is published free by the provider, and the rest includes paid certifications earned by examination — cloud and AI credentials from AWS, Microsoft and Google Cloud, audit and governance credentials from ISACA and the IAPP, and paid university and professional programmes. Use the Cost filter to separate them, and the Assessment filter if you specifically want something examined rather than awarded on completion. We never state a price: fees change, and the provider's own page is the only reliable place to read one.
Do any of these count towards CPE or CPD?
That is decided by your professional body, not by us, so the explorer reports only what the provider publishes. The CPE filter separates resources whose provider states that they carry continuing-education credit, resources that award nothing at all and so cannot be evidenced, and — the largest group — resources where the provider is silent. Alongside it, the Assessment filter shows whether a credential is earned by passing an exam or by completing the material, and the Issue date filter shows how recently the provider published the offering, which is what most reporting periods actually turn on. Where a provider publishes no credit claim we say so rather than assert eligibility on its behalf; take the provider's own page to your body if you need a ruling.
Which resources are free?
A substantial part of the catalogue. Use the Cost filter in the resource explorer and select Free to see them. We mark a resource free only where the provider publishes it at no cost; anything we could not confirm is shown as "See provider" rather than guessed at.
What's the difference between AI literacy and AI engineering?
AI literacy is understanding what these systems do, where they fail and how to use them responsibly — the skill of judging output. AI engineering is building software on top of models: integrating them, grounding them in your own data, giving them tools, and measuring whether the result is good enough to ship. Most people need the first. Fewer need the second.
Do I need programming experience to learn AI?
No — not for the majority of what is listed here. AI literacy, prompting, responsible use and applying AI to everyday work require no code at all. Programming becomes necessary only when you move into the Build route: models through an API, retrieval, agents and evaluation.
Where should I start if I've never used AI?
Start with a general introduction rather than a tool tutorial. Elements of AI from the University of Helsinki builds conceptual understanding with no technical background assumed, and Google AI Essentials covers practical use at work in under ten hours. Either one is enough to make the rest of this directory navigable.
Does Nakoda run its own AI training?
Yes — separately from this directory. Everything above is curated from other organisations' public courses; this question is about the one thing on the page that Nakoda does teach. Nakoda's own Learning and Development practice runs live training directly for boards, teams and departments, built around your organisation's own tools and use cases rather than a generic deck. See the "For teams" section on this page, or get in touch to talk through what your organisation needs.
Is Nakoda AI itself certified?
We have submitted our application. We do not claim the certification before it is granted, and this page will say so when it is.
Can Nakoda AI guarantee certification?
No. The assessment is made by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, not by us. What we can do is make sure the organization meets the criteria before it applies, and that the submission evidences that clearly.
How long does Dubai AI Seal preparation take?
It depends entirely on what already exists. An organization with mature governance may need a few weeks to assemble the submission. An organization starting from nothing should expect several months to build the frameworks the application evidences.
What does the Dubai AI Seal evaluate?
Security protocols, AI governance frameworks, transparency practices, ethical AI standards, and compliance with UAE regulatory requirements. The evaluation rests substantially on documentation, which is where most unprepared applications struggle.
Why does the Dubai AI Seal matter commercially?
The Dubai Department of Finance issued a directive requiring government AI procurement to go to certified, compliant providers. Certification is therefore a prerequisite for AI-related government contracts in Dubai, not a nice-to-have credential.
What is the Dubai AI Seal?
A certification programme run by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence that verifies AI companies meet standards for governance, security, ethics and transparency. It is assessed across six tiers, from entry level through to the highest standard.
What is Executive AI Enablement?
A one-to-one service that configures AI agents around an individual leader's daily workflow - automated briefings, decision dashboards and AI-assisted communication - so senior time goes to decisions rather than information processing.
Does Nakoda AI sell or resell AI software?
No. We are an advisory firm and take no commission or referral income from any vendor. That independence is what makes vendor selection advice worth having.
Where should an organization start with AI strategy?
With an AI Readiness Assessment. It examines data infrastructure, workflow maturity, talent capability, technology stack and leadership alignment, and produces a scored profile of what is in place and what is missing. It takes two to three weeks and every subsequent decision builds on it.
How long does a governance gap assessment take?
Three to four weeks. It produces the roadmap for everything that follows.
We use AI embedded in tools we did not build. Is that our responsibility?
Yes. When third-party AI produces decisions affecting customers, employees or financial outcomes, accountability sits with the organization that deployed it, not the vendor that built it. Third-party AI tool audit exists for exactly this.
Which frameworks does your audit practice follow?
ISACA's frameworks - COBIT for governance and management of enterprise IT, CRISC for risk and information systems control, and the CISA standard for information systems auditing - alongside the professional standards of chartered accountancy. Alignment means the methodology, evidence standards, documentation requirements and reporting format follow those standards.
What is the difference between audit of AI and AI in auditing?
Audit of AI means independently evaluating AI systems, algorithms and data to determine whether they are trustworthy, accurate, fair, compliant and secure - what an organization does to the AI it uses. AI in auditing means deploying AI tools within the audit function to make audit processes more effective and comprehensive - what the audit function does with AI. Both are needed, and they are not interchangeable.
Is this just SEO with new branding?
No. Classic SEO is one of the seven disciplines and the foundation for the rest, but AI SEO, AEO, GEO, LLMO, AIO and SMAO target being cited inside answers, which is a different goal measured a different way.
How is this measured?
By actual placement in generated answers - citation share, extraction rate, accuracy and sentiment across a fixed panel of buyer questions, per engine and per question. Not by proxy metrics like page rank or domain authority.
What is LLMO and why does it matter?
Large Language Model Optimization is the practice of structuring an organization's content, data and online presence so AI platforms surface and cite the brand when users ask relevant questions. As buyer behaviour shifts from search engines to AI assistants, organizations not optimized for LLMO are invisible to a growing share of their audience.
We are already registered but our licence does not cover our AI activities. What now?
That is a restructuring engagement. The complexity is doing it without disrupting existing operations, client relationships, banking and visa statuses - which is exactly what the service is designed around.
Which free zone is right for an AI company?
It depends on the nature of the business, intended clients, banking requirements, workforce size, planned certifications and the government programmes you want to access. DMCC, DIFC Innovation Hub, Dubai Internet City, Innovation City, Masdar City, ADGM and SRTIP all offer different activity permissions and cost structures. The pathway mapping session exists to answer this specifically rather than generically.
How long is a session?
Most run ninety minutes to half a day, depending on how much hands-on setup time the group wants. Multi-session programmes are available where a group wants to build the habits over a few weeks rather than in one sitting.
Do I need any technical background?
None. Sessions are hands-on and start from the tools people already have on their phones. Bring the device you actually use.
Is this a corporate training programme?
It can be delivered to a team, a community group or an individual. It sits deliberately outside the governance and compliance content in the rest of the Learning and Development division - the subject here is your day, not your organization's risk register.
Who delivers the training?
Practitioners who spend the other half of their professional time doing governance, audit, strategy and visibility work in real organizations. They teach from current experience.
Do you deliver generic AI courses?
No. Every programme starts from what participants need to be able to do differently afterwards, using the organization's actual tools, use cases and governance challenges. The evaluation framework measures behavioural change, not satisfaction scores.
What is the Efficiency in Life track?
Workshops, masterclasses and seminars on the AI tools and applications that make day-to-day life easier - personal assistants, inbox and scheduling automation, document handling, learning and creative tools - plus the judgment to know which are worth the setup time. It sits deliberately outside the corporate governance content.
How does Nakoda protect editorial independence?
Coverage at news.nakoda.ai is at editorial discretion and is never paid placement. Directory listing works the same way. Media partnership buys accreditation and access, not a story or its angle.
Does Nakoda guarantee government introductions?
No. We provide current intelligence on UAE government AI programmes, guidance on which are relevant to a given situation and, where possible, the introductions that accelerate access. We do not take engagements where the expected outcome exceeds what the relationship infrastructure supports.
Can AI companies become channel partners?
Yes. The Channel Partner Programme is structured for AI companies, service providers, technology vendors and complementary consultancies serving the UAE AI market. Channel partners are not resellers - they refer clients when the fit is right and receive referrals in return.
Can organizations become media partners?
Yes. Organizations hosting AI events that want recognized AI-specialist coverage can contact the editorial team at news.nakoda.ai. We provide editorial coverage in exchange for accreditation and the access that follows. Coverage is at editorial discretion and is never paid placement.
Does membership guarantee media or speaking access?
No. Speaker and media access is introduction facilitation: we connect members with opportunities relevant to their expertise and objectives, and leave the relationship building to the people involved. We do not promise access we cannot deliver.
What is the Nakoda AI Brief?
A weekly newsletter covering the UAE AI ecosystem: policy developments, ecosystem announcements, regulatory updates, event intelligence and practical guidance drawn from our advisory practice. It is not a content marketing newsletter and it does not republish press releases with new headlines.
What happens at Nakoda gatherings?
It depends on the format. A majlis session gives a single question three hours and no slides. Coffee & Coding is a morning working session where members bring a real problem. Mocktails and meetings is an after-work format built for introductions rather than presentations. None of them are pitch events.
Is membership free?
The Nakoda AI Brief is free to subscribe to. Community membership is available via nakoda.ai - start there and we will tell you what applies to your situation rather than quoting something generic here.
Who can join the Nakoda AI Community?
Professionals, founders, executives and organizations operating in or entering the UAE AI space. Membership is the base-level entry point to the Nakoda AI ecosystem and is not restricted to clients of the advisory practice.
What does community membership include?
The weekly Nakoda AI Brief, events intelligence and coverage from news.nakoda.ai, inclusion in community discussions, and the in-person formats: majlis gatherings, mocktails and meetings, and Coffee & Coding working sessions.
How small an engagement will you take?
Small enough to be worth doing. Several engagements in this division are a few days of work with a fixed scope and a defined end point. If a request is better answered in a single conversation, that is what happens.
Will you tell us if we do not need the work?
Yes, and it happens often. We take no vendor commission and no referral income, so there is no financial reason to recommend an engagement that is not warranted. A second opinion that ends in "do not buy this" is a successful outcome.
What falls under the Others division?
AI work that does not fit divisions 01 to 07: custom builds and automation, internal AI agents, integration and data preparation, technical due diligence, commissioned research, and referrals to other organizations in the UAE AI ecosystem when they are the better fit.
